The Problem: T1 speeds were too low and too expensive to provide medical image management to remote clinics.
The Solution: A wireless point-to-multipoint and point-to-point technology was deployed to various sites to manage Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) applications from the various image devices, such as ultrasound, nuclear medicine, MRI and others.
The Result: Physicians are able to review images from any of the connected sites and maintain the images in a central PAC system. Because of the over-the-air encryption security, the data transfer meets and exceeds Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) requirements.
Costs: 10 to 300Mbps point-to-point circuits from $3,000 to $50,000.
